Exactly what it sounds like, the Federal Good Life Guarantee (FGLG), passed in 2050, guarantees every American a good life. The definition of a good life is democratically co-defined by all Americans through a combination of daily data collection on your leisure habits, the leisure census survey, and interviews with a sample of the population. The current definition, co-defined by yourself and your fellow Americans last year, is an algorithm which includes mental and physical health, equity for all people living on American soil, secure food supply, and adequate leisure time.
Since societal mindset and standards change, every ten years, every individual, including children over the age of 5, will fill out the Leisure Census to have your say in co-defining a good life. The form is based on the pioneering work done by Bhutan and the GNH survey as well as the UN’s Human Development Indicators. Survey questions ask you to define leisure and to rank the importance of well-being indicators, including space to write in your own.
Every 10 years, Americans communally redefine a “good life”
The Leisure Census has been boiled down to 143 questions
98% of people voted to pass this bill
Each person is expected to contribute 6 hours per week to the communal good life through paid participation (previously known as work)
