Fair Housing Act

Remember when housing was for profit? Remember those “landlords” who would raise those days are behind us because in 2040 President Cory Booker passed the Fair Housing Act which mandates that all housing stock is to be not-for-profit. In a landmark address, he spoke of the right to affordable and equitable housing for all Americans. Real estate as we know it crashed, but the built environment persisted in providing shelter and with affordable rent prices, people began to better maintain their residences so that despite being abandoned by greedy landlords, the built environment only got better.

How Does This Affect You?

You can ensure that the building/home you want to live in is properly following not-for-profit guidelines by visiting the Department of Fair Housing website which lists all fair prices by zipcode. If you find an old-school landlord who isn’t, please do your civic duty and report him or her. Lastly, please remember that quality housing is a right to all and it is your civic responsibility to provide maintenance on yours to pass on to the next generation.

today's reality, by the numbers

Approximately 553,742 were experiencing homelessness on any given night in the United States prior to 2040.

In 2020, the average monthly rent for an apartment in the United States was $1,468.

By the time this bill was passed, there were over 1,000 protests about the right to fair and affordable housing.

To date, over 10,000 office buildings have been converted to apartments.
